Languages

Admins control the list of languages that appear in tutor profiles, student preferences, and lesson filters. All changes take effect immediately across the platform.

Where to find it

Navigate to Admin → Languages in the main navigation.

The page shows all languages currently in the system. For each language you can see:

Name — the language label shown to tutors and students
Tutor count — how many tutors have this language on their profile
Student count — how many students list this as a language preference
Lesson count — how many lessons are tagged with this language
Active status — whether the language appears in dropdowns

Add a language

Click Add language.
Enter the language name.
Click Create.

The new language is appended to the bottom of the list. Its display order can be adjusted with the arrow buttons after creation.

Reorder languages

Use the ▲ and ▼ arrow buttons in the Order column to move a language up or down. The order controls how languages are sorted in every dropdown across the platform.

Activate and deactivate a language

Click the toggle button in the Active column to switch a language on or off.

Active languages appear in tutor profile editors, student preference pickers, and lesson filters.
Inactive languages are hidden from all dropdowns. Existing records that reference an inactive language are preserved and remain visible in their original context.

Rename a language

Open the row menu (⋯) and click Edit.
Change the name and click Save.

The rename cascades to all existing records that reference the language, including tutor profiles, student preferences, and historical lessons.

Delete a language

Open the row menu and click Delete. Deletion is only available when the language has no tutors, students, or lessons linked to it. If the delete option is disabled, remove all associations first.

Default languages

The platform ships with the following languages pre-configured:

Afrikaans, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese Mandarin, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
